Olde Town and the northwest

Concrete contractor in Arvada, CO

Arvada is one of the towns we work most. We pour driveways, patios and steps on postwar ranches near Olde Town and on the newer streets out west.

From Olde Town to the foothills

Arvada grew up along Ralston Creek, where prospectors found gold in 1850, and the town was platted in 1870. Olde Town still has its brick storefronts, and the RTD G Line has stopped there since 2019.

The city runs from the older blocks around Wadsworth Boulevard west toward the foothills, where neighborhoods like Candelas and Leyden Rock are still filling in.

Most asked for

What Arvada homes usually need.

  • Driveway replacement on 1950s and 60s ranches
  • Front walks, stoops and porch landings
  • Stamped patios on newer lots
  • Slabs for garages, sheds and equipment
  • Tear-out of cracked or settled concrete

What do the older Arvada blocks need?

Much of Arvada went up after World War II, as Denver spread west. Those ranch houses are now well over 60 years old, and their driveways, front walks and steps are usually the first concrete to go.

A plain broom finish with clean joints suits those houses. Stamped concrete fits a back patio or a side walk better.

Candelas and Leyden Rock are newer ground

On the newer lots in northwest Arvada the builder pours a driveway and a front walk, and the patio is often left to the owner. Associations and metro districts out there usually want to approve a patio or driveway change first. Get that approval in hand and show it at the walkthrough.

Clay, frost and the first winter

Arvada sits on the same Front Range clay as the rest of the metro. Water makes the soil swell, which is why driveways and patios heave and crack. A prepared base and reinforcement hold the slab together, and control joints placed to spec decide where it cracks.

Our process stays simple: measured walkthrough, written scope and price, base prep, the pour, then a clean site. After the pour, hold off on deicing salt through the first winter and use sand for traction.

Good to know

Concrete in Arvada: questions

Should I patch or replace a cracked driveway on an older Arvada house?

Hairline cracks can wait. Settled slabs, wide gaps and heaved corners usually mean the base has failed, and replacement usually outlasts a patch. We walk the driveway, measure it and put the scope and price in writing.

When can I use deicer on a new concrete driveway?

Concrete contractors generally advise skipping deicing salt through the first winter, because new concrete is still drying out and the surface can scale. Sand gives you traction without the risk.

Do you pour stamped concrete in Arvada?

Yes: stamped and decorative patios, walkways, steps and driveway patterns. Arvada is one of the towns we work most, and we walk and measure the site before quoting.
