Concrete contractor in Broomfield, CO

Broomfield is one of the towns we work most. Driveways, patios and walks on the first 1950s streets and in the newer neighborhoods to the north.

A city and a county

Broomfield took its name from the broomcorn once grown here. It incorporated in 1961, and in 2001 it became the City and County of Broomfield, the newest county in Colorado.

The Denver Boulder Turnpike, now US 36, opened in 1952, and Broomfield Heights was laid out beside it a few years later. Interlocken and FlatIron Crossing grew up along the same highway, and the Broadlands and Anthem came later to the north.

Original Broomfield Heights

The first Broomfield Heights houses went up in the 1950s, mostly modest single-story homes. More than 60 years on, their driveways, front walks and steps are the usual reasons to call.

A plain broom finish with clean joints suits those houses. Stamped concrete fits a back patio or a walkway better.

Anthem and the Broadlands are newer ground

North Broomfield filled in later. On those lots the builder usually pours a driveway and a front walk, and associations or metro districts typically want to approve a patio or driveway change first. Get that approval in hand and show it at the walkthrough.

Clay, frost and the first winter

Broomfield sits on Front Range clay that swells when it gets wet. Water makes the soil swell, which is why driveways and patios heave and crack. A prepared base and reinforcement hold the slab together, and control joints placed to spec decide where it cracks.

Our process stays simple: measured walkthrough, written scope and price, base prep, the pour, then a clean site. After the pour, hold off on deicing salt through the first winter and use sand for traction.

Good to know

Concrete in Broomfield: questions

Should I patch or replace a cracked driveway on an older Broomfield house?

Hairline cracks can wait. Settled slabs, wide gaps and heaved corners usually mean the base has failed, and replacement usually outlasts a patch. We walk the driveway, measure it and put the scope and price in writing.

When can I use deicer on a new concrete driveway?

Concrete contractors generally advise skipping deicing salt through the first winter, because new concrete is still drying out and the surface can scale. Sand gives you traction without the risk.

Do you pour stamped concrete in Broomfield?

Yes: stamped and decorative patios, walkways, steps and driveway patterns. Broomfield is one of the towns we work most, and we walk and measure the site before quoting.
