Parker is one of the towns we work most. Driveways, patios and walks across a young town where many homes sit in a subdivision with an association.

From Twenty Mile House to Mainstreet

Parker started as a stage stop called Twenty Mile House, about twenty miles out of Denver on the Smoky Hill Trail. The town incorporated in 1981 and has grown fast since.

Mainstreet is the old center and the Cherry Creek Trail runs through town, but most of the houses went up in subdivisions from the 1980s on.

Builder lots and the patio that comes next

A typical Parker home came with a builder driveway, a front walk and a small pad out back. Extending that pad into a real patio, adding a walk to the side gate or widening the driveway are the usual jobs.

Stamped concrete is a common pick for those patios. A plain broom finish with clean joints still makes sense for driveways and side yards.

Get the association on board first

Most Parker subdivisions have an association or metro district with design rules, and many want to approve a patio or driveway change before work starts. Get that approval in hand and show it at the walkthrough.

Clay, frost and the first winter

Douglas County has its share of expansive clay. Water makes the soil swell, which is why driveways and patios heave and crack. A prepared base and reinforcement hold the slab together, and control joints placed to spec decide where it cracks.

Our process stays simple: measured walkthrough, written scope and price, base prep, the pour, then a clean site. After the pour, hold off on deicing salt through the first winter and use sand for traction.

Good to know

Concrete in Parker: questions

Do I need HOA approval for a new patio in Parker?

Often, yes. Many Parker associations and metro districts want to see plans for a patio or driveway change first. Get the approval in hand, and we will match the scope to it at the walkthrough.

When can I use deicer on a new concrete driveway?

Concrete contractors generally advise skipping deicing salt through the first winter, because new concrete is still drying out and the surface can scale. Sand gives you traction without the risk.

Do you pour stamped concrete in Parker?

Yes: stamped and decorative patios, walkways, steps and driveway patterns. Parker is one of the towns we work most, and we walk and measure the site before quoting.
